Amazon is still analysts' favorite big tech stock, even at $1 trillion

  • Analysts covering Amazon don't see an end to the rally anytime soon.
  • All but two of 47 analysts recommend buying Amazon shares, while only 62 percent still have buy ratings on Apple.

Amazon just passed a $1 trillion market cap, and analysts are still telling investors to buy, buy, buy.
Of the 47 analysts with ratings on Amazon, 45 (or 96 percent) say analysts should keep accumulating the shares, according to FactSet. That's the highest ratio of buy recommendations among the 10 most valuable U.S. tech companies.
Apple, which last month became the first U.S. company to eclipse the $1 trillion barrier, has a buy rating from just 62 percent of analysts.
The level of Amazon bullishness is yet another sign that Wall Street is willing to pay up more for growth than profit, particularly when it comes to a company with so many engines for expansion.
"AMAZON is a consensus long and has the least amount of debate of the mega-cap internet stocks," wrote Rob Sanderson, an analyst at MKM Partners, in a report on Aug. 22. Sanderson said Amazon Web Services is "in a sweet-spot for margin expansion" and sees the company making a big splash in grocery delivery.
From Amazon's dominance in online retail and its expansion into private labels to the rapid growth of AWS and the penetration of the Alexa assistant into more areas of our personal and professional lives, Amazon is everywhere. Sales in the latest quarter jumped 39 percent, more than double Apple's 17 percent growth rate.
Apple is much more profitable than Amazon. The iPhone maker recorded an operating margin of 24 percent in the latest period, while Amazon's was 5.6 percent.
Analyst price targets on Amazon have yet to catch up with their ratings. The average 12-month price prediction for Amazon shares is $2,142.64, according to FactSet, which is only about a 5 percent increase from here. That's hardly a move at all for Amazon, which has surged 75 percent this year after gaining 56 percent in 2017.

Massachusetts primary election results

In a political stunner, incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano lost Tuesday's primary to Ayanna Pressley, a Boston city councilor who is virtually assured of becoming the first black woman to serve Massachusetts in Congress.
The 44-year-old's upset over a 10-term incumbent congressman underscores the shift underway in a Democratic Party whose base is seeking younger, more diverse candidates. Her victory comes just two months after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez similarly defeated a top House leader in a primary for a New York congressional seat.
Pressley is now on track to represent an area of Massachusetts once served by Democratic icons Tip O'Neill and John F. Kennedy.
"Change is coming and the future belongs to all of us," Pressley told wildly cheering supporters Tuesday night.
A subdued Capuano told supporters he did everything he could to win re-election. "Apparently the district just is very upset with lots of things that are going on. I don't blame them. I'm just as upset as they are, but so be it. This is the way life goes," he said.
The race between Capuano and Pressley was perhaps the most closely watched contest in Massachusetts. The challenge from Pressley, the first black woman to serve on the council, had drawn some comparisons to Ocasio-Cortez, who defeated 10-term New York Rep. Joe Crowley in a stunning upset in a Democratic primary in June. Both races highlight rifts within the Democratic Party, with many younger voters embracing new and more diverse political leadership.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren sailed through the primary unopposed. She'll face Geoff Diehl, a state representative who served as co-chair of President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign in the state and defeated two other Republicans for his party's nomination.
Another veteran congressman, Democratic Rep. Richard Neal, won a spirited primary showdown with Tahirah Amatul-Wadud, a black attorney from Springfield who had hoped to become the first Muslim to serve in Congress from Massachusetts. Neal, the dean of the state's House delegation, first was elected in 1989.
Two other Democratic House incumbents, William Keating and Joe Kennedy, fended off primary challenges on Tuesday. Kennedy, the grandson of the late U.S. Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, delivered the Democratic response to Trump's State of the Union address earlier this year.
Another Democrat, U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas, is retiring at the end of this term, and that open seat touched off a political scramble with 10 candidates on the Democratic primary ballot.
Republican Gov. Charlie Baker won his party's nomination for a second term, defeating Scott Lively, a conservative minister and staunch supporter of Trump who frequently called Baker — a frequent critic of the president — a RINO, or Republican in Name Only.
Baker, a moderate who has been popular with voters in what is perceived as one of the nation's bluest states, will face Democrat Jay Gonzalez in November. Gonzalez served as secretary of administration and finance under Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick.
Neither Gonzalez nor his primary opponent Democrat Robert Massie, a longtime political and environmental activist, was well-known outside of party activist circles. Both contended that Baker's support among voters was soft and that his administration had failed to make significant strides in many areas, particularly the problems plaguing the Boston-area transit system known as the "T."

10 BENEFITS OF GOOGLE CLASSROOM INTEGRATION

As a free online learning platform, Google Classroom offers several benefits for students and teachers. Here’s 10 reasons why teachers should give it a try.
Accessibility
Google Classroom can be accessed from any computer via Google Chrome or from any mobile device regardless of platform.  All files uploaded by teachers and students are stored in a Classroom folder on Google Drive. Users can access Classroom anytime, anywhere. Students no longer have to worry about crashed computers or hungry dogs.
Exposure
Classroom provides students with exposure to an online learning system. Many college and university programs now require students to enroll in at least one online class. Exposure to Google Classroom may help students transition into other learning management systems used in higher education.
Paperless
Teachers and students won’t have excessive amounts of paper to shuffle since Classroom is completely paperless. When teachers upload assignments and assessments to Classroom, they are simultaneously saved to Drive. Students can complete assignments and assessments directly through Classroom, and their work is also saved to Drive. Students can access missed work due to absences and locate other resources they may need.
Time Saver
Classroom is a huge time saver. With all resources saved in one place and the ability to access Classroom anywhere, teachers will have more free time to complete other tasks. Since Classroom can be accessed from a mobile device, teachers and students can participate through their phones or tablets.
Communication
Built-in tools make communicating with students and parents a breeze. Teachers and students can send emails, post to the stream, send private comments on assignments, and provide feedback on work. Teachers have full control over student comments and posts. They can also communicate with parents through individual emails or through Classroom email summaries which include class announcements and due dates.

Collaborate
Classroom offers several ways for students to collaborate. Teachers can facilitate online discussions between students and create group projects within the Classroom. In addition, students can collaborate on Google Docs which have been shared by the teacher.
Engagement
Most digital natives are comfortable with technology and will be more apt to take ownership in their learning through use of technology. Classroom offers numerous ways to make learning interactive and collaborative. It offers teachers the ability to differentiate assignments, include videos and web pages into lessons, and create collaborative group assignments.
Differentiation
Through Classroom, teachers are easily able to differentiate instruction for learners. Assigning lessons to the whole class, individual students, or groups of students takes just a few simple steps when creating an assignment on the Classwork page.
Feedback
Providing meaningful feedback to students is a valuable part of all learning. Within the grading tool of Classroom, teachers can send feedback to each student on assignments. The ability to create a comment bank for future use is also available within the grading tool. In addition, the Classroom mobile app allows users to annotate work.
Data Analysis
In order to make learning meaningful, teachers should analyze data from assessments to ensure students are understanding learning objectives. Data from assessments can easily be exported into Sheets for sorting and analysis.

Sinister 'Momo' Online Game Linked to Children's Suicides in Colombia

The sick 'Momo' challenge game that continues to sweep across South America, Asia, Mexico, France, Germany and the United States, has claimed the lives of two more children.
According to media reports and RNC Radio, a 16-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl living in Barbosa committed suicide after playing a challenge-based game believed to be the 'Momo' challenge on the internet.

As CBN News reported, the "Momo Challenge" encourages people to text a random number on the free messaging app called "WhatsApp." A creepy bird woman responds back, asking the user to perform a series of escalating dares. If they do not complete the challenges, the number threatens to leak their personal information to friends, family members, and strangers.
Both the teenage boy and the girl died within two days of each other. According to reports, the boy knew the girl and sent her the game before he killed himself.  The girl was later found to have hanged herself.
According to Fox News, the local authorities checked the children's phones and found text messages linking them to the suicide game.
"Apparently, they practiced this game through WhatsApp and it invited the young people to hurt themselves," government secretary Janier Landono told Fox News.  "The game has different challenges and the suicide is at the end."
The children's deaths are the first to be linked to the game in Columbia. It is believed the game started on a Facebook group page.
Meanwhile, police in Argentina are also investigating whether the death of a 12-year-old girl in Escobar last month is also linked to the 'Momo' game.
Just last week, an 18-year-old boy in India committed suicide in what police suspect is connected to the online game.
The Khaleej Times reports the boy's body was found hanging in a shed near his home in Kurseong with the words 'Illuminati', 'hanged man' and 'devil's one eye' written on one wall.  The graffiti has raised suspicion that the boy had played the game.
"I had seen Hanged Man, the drawing Manish painted, in the Momo app. The game is responsible for his suicide," Arjun Ghatani, Sarki's cousin, and a class 10 student told the Hindustan Times.
"My son was sincere, hardworking and innocent. He used to play online games. I strongly believe that Momo Challenge took him away from us," Chandra Maya Sarki, the mother of the victim told The Khaleej Times.
Law enforcement officials are still trying to track down who's behind the challenge.
CBN News Technology Expert Caleb Kinchlow advises parents to use the challenge as a conversation starter to warn their children about the dangers of social media.

"Use information like this, challenges like this, whether they're as benign as the ice bucket challenge or more sinister like the pod challenge, as a jumping off point to engage in conversation," he said.  "Don't assume your kid knows what to do. Let's talk about this and say 'Hey, these are the kind of challenges out there. Here's what you should or shouldn't do."

Rafael Nadal vs Dominic Thiem: Nadal seals dramatic tiebreak victory

RAFAEL NADAL booked his place in the US Open semi-finals with a tiebreak victory over Dominic Thiem to set up a clash with Juan Martin del Potro.

Nadal recovered from a first-set bagel to defeat Thiem in another late-night classic at New York's Flushing Meadows.
Twenty-four hours after Roger Federer lost to John Millman, his old rival avoided following him out of the tournament, but only just, completing a 0-6 6-4 7-5 6-7 (4/7) 7-6 (7/5) victory at 2.03am.
Ninth seed Thiem became the first player since Andy Roddick in 2004 to win a love set against Nadal in New York but the defending champion once again dug deep to come out on top of a gruelling battle played in more punishing humidity.
He will now face Del Potro for a place in the final but admits he apologised to Thiem after dumping him out.
“I just said ‘I am very sorry. You are very good’,” Nadal said afterwards.
“He has plenty of time to win big tournaments and has everything. He is a fighter with a great attitude so that is the most important thing.
“He is a very well educated guy and a top person.
“I am sorry for him but I am sure he will have his chances in the future, without a doubt.”

Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem clash at the US Open
Remarkably, Thiem was the first top-20 player Nadal has faced at Flushing Meadows since his final win over Novak Djokovic in 2013, with last year's title seeing him take on a succession of unexpected opponents.
And Thiem, the only man to beat Nadal on clay for the last two seasons, set about showing his opponent he meant serious business in his first grand slam quarter-final outside of the French Open.
The Austrian blasted 13 winners, made only two unforced errors and allowed Nadal just seven points in winning an extraordinary opening set.
It was only the fourth time in his long grand slam history that Nadal had lost a set 6-0 and just the third time at any level in nearly seven years. But the last time, against Philipp Kohlschreiber in Miami last spring, he fought back to win the match.
Nadal's ability to look only forward and forget what went before is one of his most important strengths and he set about turning around the match, closing in on the baseline, forcing Thiem to play one more ball and, eventually, to go for too much.
The Spaniard secured the break he wanted for 5-3 only to give it back but a sloppy game from Thiem, who turned 25 on Monday, handed him the set anyway.
Rafael Nadal
The momentum was with Nadal but Thiem regrouped in the third set and began to again blast winners into the corners. But, as in the second set, when the time came to keep his foot on Nadal's throat, he instead loosened the pressure and lived to regret it.
Thiem was broken serving for the set and then could not hold on for the tie-break, saving two set points but not a third after planting a volley wide with the whole of the court available.
The fourth set was a wild 81-minute ride that began with Thiem facing break points, saw the Austrian threaten a double break before being pegged back and then a weary Nadal miss a chance to win the match.
With Thiem serving at 5-6 30-30, a desperate lunging forehand looked to be easy pickings for Nadal at the net only for the 32-year-old to net it.
Thiem held on for the tie-break, where another unexpected Nadal error, this time a short forehand into the net, sent the match into a deciding set.
With the clock ticking towards 1am and transport options dwindling, many fans headed for the exits while the two adversaries battled on.
Having looked the more weary of the two, it was Nadal who was applying the greater pressure and at 5-5, 0-40 it seemed this was his chance. But Thiem saved all three break points before denying Nadal a fourth opportunity with a stunning volley at the end of a remarkable point.
That they were still able to produce tennis of such quality was astonishing. There was no let-up in the tie-break and, after four hours and 49 minutes, it was Nadal who claimed victory when Thiem sent a smash long.
The Austrian hung his head before being consoled by Nadal who then held his arms aloft in celebration and relief.
