Mega Millions: Winner will get the jackpot of $425M drawing sold in Tuesday's
One lucky winner will start the new year $425 million richer after matching all six numbers in Tuesday's Mega Millions.
There was one winning ticket sold for the New Year's Day drawing, according to the Mega Millions website. Seven other players won at least $1 million after matching all but the Mega Ball. The winning numbers were 34, 44, 57, 62, 70 and Mega Ball 14.
The $425 million jackpot was the eighth largest in its history and just the fifth drawing on New Year's Day. The lucky winner has a cash option of $254.6 million. A winner has claimed the jackpot on New Year's Day only once before, in 2008.
The lotto prize hit a record $1.537 billion in October, but the buyer of the one winning ticket sold in South Carolina has not come forward yet. It was the world's largest lottery prize ever won on a single ticket.
To win the Mega Millions jackpot, players pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers – five different numbers from 1 to 70 and one number from 1 to 25 – or select Easy Pick or Quick Pick.
Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., and the Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $2 each.
The estimated jackpot for Friday's drawing is $40 million, or $23.9 million in cash.
Uber employees' feelings about the company revealed in leaked worker survey
Uber employees are feeling better about their employer and their own work, according to a new leaked employee survey.
The poll is conducted every six months and this latest one is from October, according to Business Insider, who first reported on the leaked answers to 35 questions the workers answered. The results are favorable/positive, neutral or negative and the responses are compared to those from the previous employee survey.
For example, of the 18,648 Uber employees who participated in the poll, here's the percentage that answered the following questions favorably, according to Business Insider:
I believe that Uber is in a position to succeed over the next two years -- 83 percent
I feel heard by my manager -- 73 percent
I feel secure about my job -- 66 percent
I feel fairly treated -- 63 percent
Uber acts in a socially responsible way -- 63 percent
I feel the work I'm doing is meaningful and impactful -- 63 percent
I have access to the learning and development needed to do my job well -- 60 percent
I feel excited to come to work every day -- 58 percent
I see myself working at Uber in two years' time -- 56 percent
I am able to manage my work stress in a healthy way -- 56 percent
Even if offered a competitive offer or external career opportunity, I would choose to stay at Uber -- 45 percent
I believe my total compensation (base salary, bonuses, benefits, equity) is fair, relative to similar roles at other companies -- 40 percent
All those positive replies were up from the previous survey.
Uber did not respond to requests for comment.
The company behind the popular ride-hailing app has previously come under fire from employees who feel they aren't paid well enough.
Also casting a shadow were allegations that Uber was a toxic work environment for women and that some of its aggressive business tactics may have been illegal. Amid that, co-founder and CEO Travis Kalanick resigned in June 2017.
Android 9 Pie Update Rollout for Moto G6 Plus in India
Motorola is looking back to get into the smartphone game again. Before officially announcing the Moto G7 series of phones, Motorola has some plans for the Moto G6 Plus launched in the first half of 2018. The Lenovo owned sub-brand is all set to bring Google’s latest Android 9 Pie update to the Moto G6 Plus users in India. Motorola has shared the official Android 9 Pie changelog on the company’s official website. The listing hints that all Moto G6 Plus users in India will very soon get upgraded to the latest software and all the features that it comes with. Going by the changelog, the Android 9 Pie update will bring wide ranges of features to the Moto G6 Plus like — new navigation gestures which will let users switch between apps and home screen by just swiping. Other features that are expected to roll out to the Moto G6 Plus with Pie are — adaptive battery and brightness, app actions, improved security features, Digital Wellbeing, a new accessibility menu and screenshot shortcut, and some other features. The Android 9 Pie update is confirmed to come along with the December 2018 Android security patch.
Moto G6 Plus to Get Pie Update Soon
To recollect, the Moto G6 Plus was launched in India in September running on Android 8.0 Oreo. As of now, there’s no report when will the rollout happen, but now that the information has been listed on the company website, we expect Android 9 Pie to come to Moto G6 Plus very soon. The changelog – which was first spotted on Reddit – reveals that the software update will bring December Android security patch along with Android 9 Pie to the Moto G6 Plus users.
To check whether you’ve got the Android 9 Pie update on your Moto G6 Plus or not head to the Settings menu > then go to the System tab > and lastly to the System updates and refresh to check if the update has come. Ensure to back up all your data and charge your phone to 100 per cent before downloading and installing the update. It is also recommended to connect the phone to Wi-Fi network before downloading the update. As of now, there’s no report whether the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play will get the Android 9 Pie update in India or not.
The Moto G6 Plus will be the second phone from Motorola to get the latest iteration of Android. Motorola already rolled out Android 9 Pie update to its Android One smartphone, the Motorola One Power. The Moto G6 Plus could be the company’s least selling model this year as it was priced way higher than everyone expected.
Moto G7 Series in the Works
Motorola is currently working on four Moto G7 series of phones including Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Power and Moto G7 Play. The phones like all other G series phones are expected to come to India as well. Reports and rumours suggest that the Moto G7 will launch around Mobile World Congress 2019 in the month of February. The official launch timeline is yet to be revealed by Motorola.
PlayStation 4 Has Reportedly Shipped Over 90 Million Units, Closing In On 100 Million
While there’s a lot of talk about what’s happening with the PlayStation 5, that doesn’t mean the current PlayStation has lost any steam. In fact, the PlayStation 4 is setting sales records for Sony, with a new one reportedly reached just in time for 2019.
The Hunter, who serves as a senior gaming, tech and media editor for Walmart Canada, recently posted a tweet indicating that the PS4 has crossed another huge sales threshold, with 90 million units shipped.
The last time we heard official sales numbers for the PlayStation 4 was back in late October, when Sony confirmed that the system has shipped over 86 million shipments worldwide. Considering the holiday rush was as strong as it was, it wouldn’t surprise us if the company cleared another four to five million units sold, if not more.
Sony wasn’t able to confirm these numbers, since it’s still in the midst of a holiday break. However, this sounds pretty accurate; and more than likely, they’ll confirm the news either later this week or early next week, depending on when they return.
One thing that probably worked in Sony’s favor was the special Black Friday bundle they had on the market, consisting of a 1TB PlayStation 4 Slim console packaged with the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man, packed in and going for a very reasonable $199. The system sold like hotcakes before it was discontinued.
