WhatsApp is restricting forwards to just five chats, all over the world

WhatsApp Forward Message Limit: WhatsApp has today confirmed that it will be restricting forwards to just five chats, a limit that now applies globally and not just for the Indian market.

WhatsApp has announced that it will restrict all forwards to just five chats at once, and this limit now applies globally, and not just for the Indian market.
WhatsApp has today confirmed that it will be restricting forwards to just five chats, a limit that now applies globally and not just for the Indian market.
The Facebook-owned messaging app has restricted forwards to just twenty chats globally back in July 2018, though the limit for India was lower at five chats. WhatsApp will now apply this five chats limits to all its global users.
In an official statement WhatsApp that they have taken this decision after evaluating this test and based on user feedback over a six-month period. According to WhatsApp, the new “forward limit significantly reduced forwarded messages around the world.”
WhatsApp says the limit is being extended globally to address the issue of content going viral on the platform.
The update from WhatsApp says, “Starting today, all users on the latest versions of WhatsApp can now forward to only five chats at once, which will help keep WhatsApp focused on private messaging with close contacts. We’ll continue to listen to user feedback about their experience, and over time, look for new ways of addressing viral content.”
In simple terms, anyone who is using the latest version of WhatsApp will now find their forwarding options limited to just five chats. In India, WhatsApp had applied this limit to curb the growing of use of the app to forward fake news and false messages, some of which it had resulted in mob violence and lynchings in the country.
WhatsApp had earlier said that India was where people forwarded more messages, photos and videos than any other country in the world.
India is also the biggest market for WhatsApp, with close to 250 million active users. The company had also announced a forwarded label feature for all such messages last year.
The idea was to alert users that the message they were reading was a forward, and not necessarily something that had been composed by their friend or contact who had forwarded the message.
WhatsApp has also been hosting digital literacy workshops in India and even launched advertisement campaigns in India against the spread of misinformation and fake news on the platform.
Samsung Galaxy S10’s In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Tipped, Ceramic and Storage Details Leak Again

Only the Galaxy S10+ will feature a ceramic back that will reportedly have a metallic lustre
Samsung Galaxy S10 has long been rumoured to come equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor, but the code of the Samsung Pay app has now seemingly confirmed it. Additionally, more details about Samsung's upcoming flagship have surfaced about which indicate that the ceramic variant of the Galaxy S10+ will come in black and white color options. Also, the 5G variant of the Galaxy S10 will have 256GB of internal storage on the base variant that will reportedly go all the way up to 1TB coupled with 12GB of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 has been tipped to feature an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor in multiple leaks and rumors, but the Samsung Pay app's code has now seemingly confirmed it. In a teardown of the Samsung Pay app by XDA Developers, references for making UI adjustments for an in-display fingerprint sensor were spotted, alongside the ‘Beyond' codename associated with the Galaxy S10 series. The code suggests that the Galaxy Pay app will identify whether the smartphone it is running on has an-display fingerprint sensor or not, so that the layout of the payment flow window can be adjusted accordingly to make room for the area where the sensor is located.
Additionally, the Galaxy S10 smartphones will reportedly come with a nifty gesture that will allow users to touch the front camera to launch the camera app. The feature, which is already present on the recently launched Galaxy A8s, will reportedly make its way to the Galaxy S10 lineup too. Tipster @UniverseIce has revealed via a video that the area above the camera sensor on the Infinity-O display is also touch-sensitive and can be swiped to launch the camera app. It appears that this feature will be a mainstay on smartphones featuring Samsung's Infinity-O display, which includes the Galaxy S10 as well.
The tipster also tweeted that the top variant of the Galaxy S10+ will flaunt a ceramic back which has been created using a special process to make it resistant to scratches and drops. The ceramic back panel will allegedly have a metallic lustre, however, the material will add some weight to the smartphone. Another report from SamMobile adds that the ceramic variant of the Galaxy S10+, which reportedly carries the model no. SM-G975FC, will be available in black and white shades. However, reports about Samsung launching a ceramic version of the upcoming flagship emerged for the first time back in November last year.
It was also reported in the same month that the Galaxy S10's 5G version will feature a whopping 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. A new report from SamMobile suggests that the base variant of the 5G Galaxy S10 will feature 256GB of internal storage, lending support to a previous report claiming that the 5G-enabled model of Samsung's upcoming flagship will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants.

FAKE GPS APPS WITH OVER 50 MILLION INSTALLS ON GOOGLE PLAY STORE MISLEADING USERS

Despite Google's screening process to detect fake app on the Play Store, 15 GPS and navigation apps that have been found to be fake, were spotted on the virtual store. Put together, the apps reportedly have over 50 million installations.
This was first spotted by Lukas Stefanko, a malware researcher at ESET.
Last week, Stefanko reported that he found 15 fake GPS and navigation apps on the Play Store, that just lead users to Google Maps with no additional value added to their own app, except for advertisements. The purpose of the fake navigation apps is, of course, to make money through the embedded ads.
In fact, he said that some apps even asked for money to remove those ads, while others asked access to the Android device’s dialer and other permissions that a navigation app would generally not need and could very well pose a security risk for the user.
Google Maps will now show you speed limits on major highways.

Stefanko has since reported the apps to Google for having violated the Google Maps terms of use.
Google is in the midst of reviewing these apps, an important take away from this is for users would be to be completely careful of the apps that they install. Always make sure to see who the developer of the app is — go for the trusted companies and developers.
Separately, while Google Maps apps are being illegally cloned by some on Play Store, Google recently added a new feature to the app that shows speed limits on the roads. Basically, users in the US, UK, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Indonesia, as well as India, will now be able to see speed limit on roads in the corner of the app, and they will also be notified when they approach a speed camera.
